The worst performers of the session were Antofagasta PLC (LON:), which fell 4.15% or 32.20 points to trade at 744.20 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LON:) declined 3.36% or 29.00 points to end at 834.00 and Glencore PLC (LON:) was down 2.68% or 8.15 points to 295.95.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1186 to 863 and 319 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.21% or 2.50 to $1201.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.72% or 0.49 to hit $67.28 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.39% or 0.30 to trade at $76.20 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.03% to 1.2933, while EUR/GBP fell 0.51% to 0.8943.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.33% at 95.30.
